The second Friday of January is widely known as Quitters Day — the point when many people abandon their New Year’s resolutions. Since last year, quark brand Lindahls, part of Skånemejerier, has rebranded the day as Quark Day.
According to a new survey conducted by Verian on behalf of Lindahls, one in eight New Year’s resolutions is already broken in January. The most common resolutions for 2026 are to exercise more (22 percent) and lose weight (20 percent). At the same time, one in four Swedes say that a lack of motivation is the main reason their resolutions fail.
The study also shows that nearly half of Swedes (46 percent) feel less motivated and energetic during the winter months. Three in ten find it stressful to visit the gym at the start of the year due to overcrowding, and a similar proportion struggle to maintain new eating habits.
To encourage long-term change, Lindahls has teamed up with fitness profile Ida Kjos, who offers advice on how to build new habits and emphasizes the importance of small, manageable lifestyle changes.
