Milk cartons to help combat food poverty in Skåne

Skånemejerier is strengthening its partnership with Skåne Stadsmission by adding a new milk carton design with a QR code, encouraging Skåne residents to donate and help provide more people with breakfast, warmth, and safety this December.

Throughout December, Skånemejerier’s milk cartons will feature a redesigned look aimed at inspiring more donations to support Skåne Stadsmission’s vital work. By scanning the QR code, consumers can donate an amount equivalent to the cost of a breakfast.

  • Christmas should be a time of warmth and togetherness, but for many it brings anxiety about whether the food will last. With our milk cartons reaching hundreds of thousands of households, we want to make it easy for people to help. Together, we can make a meaningful difference for those who need support, says Anette Gregow, Director of Communications and Sustainability at Skånemejerier.

Last December, Skånemejerier sold around 1,216,000 milk cartons. The collaboration with Skåne Stadsmission appears on one third of this year’s cartons, which is estimated to be about 400,000 milk cartons.

  • We are very grateful that Skånemejerier has dedicated space on its milk cartons this Christmas, making it simple for anyone who wants to ‘Swish a breakfast.’ Our operations rely on support from partners like them. We are open 365 days a year, offering a warm place where people can come in, fill their stomachs, and breathe out for a moment, says Susanne Glingestam, Head of Marketing and Communications at Skåne Stadsmission.

In addition to the QR initiative, Skånemejerier also supports Skåne Stadsmission financially and through volunteer efforts. The company is one of the mission’s largest contributors of food products. Throughout December, Skånemejerier employees will also donate Christmas gifts and volunteer at Skåne Stadsmission’s Christmas gift shops in Malmö and Kristianstad.
