New chief takes charge at Arla Jönköping

On Monday 8 December, Johan Barkinge assumed his new post as head of Arla’s dairy facility in Jönköping, stepping into leadership of one of Europe’s most advanced production sites.

A qualified mechanical engineer, Barkinge brings substantial experience from senior roles within the food industry, most recently at Orkla, where he spent more than ten years. He now takes responsibility for one of Arla’s largest plants for fresh dairy products.

  • I am both pleased and proud to be entrusted with leading Arla Jönköping, and I look forward to getting to know all my colleagues and to developing the dairy together, with a strong focus on efficiency, sustainability, and creating value from our owners’ milk, Barkinge said in press release from Arla.

In his new role, Barkinge will report to Ann-Louise Wärners, Director of Arla’s fresh dairies in Sweden. She expressed great satisfaction with the appointment.

  • I’m delighted to welcome Johan on board. He has successfully guided facilities through start-ups, growth phases and periods of change. I am confident that his expertise, experience and leadership will be invaluable as we continue to strengthen and develop the Jönköping dairy, she said.
