5300 participants enjoyed a large selection of Swedish cheeses

The ninth edition of The Cheese festival in Stockholm had more visitors than ever. In the autumn the cheese festival comes to Gothenburg.

In the weekend 11.-12. of February, the ninth edition of the Cheese festival (Ostfestivalen) took place in Stockholm. The festival was visited by roughly 5,300 visitors, which is a new attendance record. At the festival, visitors could taste a unique range of Swedish cheese, suitable accessories and drinks presented by a total of 46 exhibitors.

In the festival’s cheese competition, a jury consisting of twenty cheese experts blind tested over 100 Swedish cheeses in ten different categories. In the hard yellow cheese category for example

‘Camelia’ from Hagarnas Mejeri won a gold medal. For the second year in a row, the winner of the Audience Choice was Björkenäs Eldost from Björkenäs Mathantverk in Småland.

As something new, a cheese festival will also be held in Gothenburg this year. It will happen on 13. – 14. October.
