Arla expands its fleet with 15 new electric trucks

Arla is ramping up its commitment to sustainable transport by quadrupling the number of electric trucks in its fleet.

Over the coming weeks, 15 new electric distribution trucks will hit the roads in Stockholm, Gothenburg, and Jönköping.

– For us, the sustainability journey in logistics doesn’t stop at fossil-free transport. It is equally important to contribute to better air quality and reduced noise. Last year, we introduced 19 new trucks powered by biogas from cow manure, and this year we are increasing our focus on electrification. Both options have their advantages and are necessary to achieve the green transition, says Malin Leander, Logistics Director at Arla.

With the new electric trucks, which are Volvo FM Electric models, Arla is quadrupling its electric fleet – from five to twenty trucks. In addition, the fleet consists of 50 biogas trucks and approximately 260 vehicles running on fossil-free biodiesel.

In Sweden, all of Arla’s own heavy transports have been fossil-free since 2018, and globally the company aims to reach the same goal by 2030.
