Arla: Don’t miss your chance in a future-focused industry

Investment in the food sector is driving strong demand for dairy technicians, according to Arla Sweden. In a recent press release, the company highlights a vocational programme for dairy technicians delivered by Lernia, combining with on-site training at Arla.

Demand for skilled workers across the food industry remains high—particularly in the dairy sector, where technical expertise is vital for modern production. Ongoing investment in Swedish food manufacturing is further increasing the need for qualified staff.

A clear example is Arla’s new cheese dairy in Götene—its largest investment to date. The facility strengthens domestic production and drives demand for expertise in operations, quality and process management.

The 60-week higher vocational programme has been developed in close partnership with the dairy industry and blends theory with practical experience. As part of the course, participants undertake placements at Arla dairies across Sweden, gaining hands-on experience, industry insight and valuable professional networks.

“As production evolves and modernises, the need for the right skills grows. The dairy technician programme is key to securing expertise and continuity in the industry—and I know from experience how important it is for progressing in production,” says Elin Schelander, Production Manager at Arla’s dairy in Kalmar and a former participant.

The programme is open to both current industry professionals and new applicants with an interest in food and technology. Applications close on 15 May.
