Kavli Sverige has acquired fast-growing Tex-Mex brand El Taco Truck as part of its strategy to strengthen its position in the Nordic Street food market.
The Swedish arm of the Kavli Group, best known for its soft cheese spreads, sandwich pickles and sauces, will expand its portfolio with a range of Tex-Mex products. The acquisition reflects Kavli’s ambition to grow across the Nordic region and respond to rising consumer demand for bold, modern flavours. The acquisition was agreed in the beginning of March
Swedish company El Taco Truck has quickly established itself as a dynamic brand with a distinctive taste profile and strong innovation credentials. Operating in one of the market’s fastest-growing segments, it is a natural complement to Kavli’s existing offering, according to a press release for Kalvi Sverige.
Jonny Mattsson, Managing Director of Kavli Sverige, said the deal would enhance the company’s ability to meet evolving consumer tastes. “El Taco Truck strengthens our offering in modern street food and gives us even better opportunities to meet demand for new, contemporary Tex-Mex flavours. This is an important step in our ambition to continue growing and developing the category,” he said.
Robert Wranning, Chief Executive of El Taco Truck, welcomed the acquisition, highlighting Kavli’s expertise in flavour development. “Kavli’s capabilities and resources make them an ideal owner for the next phase of our journey. This gives us significantly stronger conditions to scale up in the long term,” he said.
Kavli Sverige is part of the Norwegian Kavli Group, owned by the Kavli Trust. In a unique model, all profits are directed towards charitable causes, including humanitarian work, research and cultural initiatives in Sweden and internationally.
Mr Mattsson added: “We are not a company like others. When we grow, so does our contribution to society.”
