Skånemejerier continues to invest in its production capacity. Over the next two years, the company will invest more than SEK 250 million to meet growing consumer demand for products such as quark and cheese.
Thirty percent of Sweden’s food production takes place in the Skåne region. Skånemejerier is a key part of this regional “pantry” and is now investing further in the future.
- We are in an expansive phase and are ramping up our production. The demand has never been greater, and as a food producer based in Skåne, we play a vital role in ensuring food supply and security for the entire country. We also have a responsibility to promote healthy and sustainable eating habits across Sweden, says Cecilia von Perglas, CEO of Skånemejerier.
In response to the recent “quark boom,” Skånemejerier has increased quark production capacity by 50% at its Malmö dairy—effective immediately—while also creating the possibility for future expansion. The investment also contributes to improved energy recovery, reduced waste, fewer emissions, and less transportation.
- Swedes love quark—especially Swedish-made quark—but they also value variety. There must be many flavors and textures: with and without fruit pieces, sweeter or tangier. We are expanding production of Lindahls quark to meet all consumer preferences, while accelerating our sustainability efforts to reduce environmental impact,” says Tintin Mattsson, plant manager in Malmö.
Skånemejerier is also investing in its facilities in Kristianstad to continue leading the Swedish cheese industry with a focus on high quality. The grill cheese Pannoumi®, the creamy hard cheese Rike®, and the recently launched hard cheese Ära™ are three examples of Skånemejerier’s innovations in recent years.
