Skånemejerier has signed a climate agreement with the City of Malmö to collaborate with various stakeholders in driving the green transition and accelerating climate action. The shared goal is to achieve a climate-neutral Malmö by 2030.
- We are strongly committed to reducing our climate footprint and are excited to work alongside Malmö and other partners to realize a climate-neutral Malmö by 2030,” says Anette Gregow, Director of Communications and Sustainability at Skånemejerier.
Malmö has pinpointed several high-impact areas that offer significant opportunities to reduce emissions while creating social and economic benefits. One such focus area is transportation, where Skånemejerier is striving to reduce its climate impact through fossil-free solutions. As of 2023, 97% of the company’s domestic transportation is fossil-free, with a target of achieving 100% fossil-free transport by 2025.
Energy use is another priority. Skånemejerier’s Malmö dairy is already powered by renewable energy, utilizing biogas and green electricity. Additional areas for potential collaboration include reducing food waste, improving packaging recycling, and optimizing the use of by-products from the food industry.
- We see tremendous opportunities to advance sustainable solutions together across the key areas outlined in the climate agreement. We’ve already made significant progress in reducing the climate impact of our operations and are eager to continue contributing to Malmö’s sustainable development through close collaboration,” adds Anette Gregow.
Other signatories to the climate agreement include Malmö FF, Stena Fastigheter, and Skanska.
