Skånemejerier Invests millions in quark production

Over the past year, demand for quark has surged dramatically. In response, Skånemejerier is investing nearly SEK 70 million to expand its quark production and meet consumer needs.

The rapid and somewhat unexpected increase in demand has led to empty quark shelves across the country. Skånemejerier has developed both short-term and long-term solutions to address this challenge.

In total, hundreds of millions of SEK will be invested in Skånemejerier over the coming years to further boost capacity and enhance product quality. This includes nearly SEK 70 million earmarked for a new quark production line in Malmö. However, to resolve the immediate quark shortage, creative short-term measures are also required. One major obstacle to ramping up production has been the shortage of packaging materials.

To quickly bring more quark to market, the Lindahls brand will launch its best-selling Vanilla 500g and Natural 500g quark varieties in plain white containers – a temporary solution to the packaging material shortage caused by surging demand.
