The Swedish dairy farmers are still facing financial challenges. Therefore, both Norrmejerier and Arla raised their settlement prices for farmers as of March 1st.
Starting from March 1st, Arla’s farmers will receive an additional 11.1 öre per kilo of milk. This applies to both conventional and organic milk. Consequently, the so-called account price in March will be 494.6 öre per kilo for conventional milk and 561.6 öre per kilo for organic.
– Dairy farmers’ margins are small, and every penny counts, especially after last year’s extreme weather and record high interest rates. Therefore, it is important and positive that we can raise the milk price for our owners, enabling them to continue running their farms, says Cecilia Kocken, CEO of Arla Sweden.
Also, Norrmejerier has increased the payment for raw milk by 30 öre from March 1, 2024, for both conventional and organic milk.
– It is gratifying that the board has made this decision, which is much needed considering the tough situation many of our dairy farms in Norrland are facing, says dairy farmer and vice chairman at Norrmejerier Lars Eriksson from Boden.
