Fazer will move the production of oat drink to Sweden

The Finnish food company Fazer is exploring the possibility of relocating its entire oat drink production from Finland to the Tingsryd factory in Sweden, where the company already manufactures oat drink.

Fazer intends to transfer the oat drink production from its Koria factory in Finland to the Tingsryd facility.

The plan is for the Finnish factory to continue producing gurt, a plant-based alternative to yogurt. The overall goal is to improve operational efficiency.

The first oat drink in the world was produced in 1993 at the Tingsryd factory. Here, there is extensive knowledge and excellent production technology. We are better equipped to produce gurt at the Finnish factory, said Krister Zackari, managing director of Fazer Lifestyle Foods at atl.nu.

If Fazer decides to relocate its entire oat drink production to Sweden, it will require increased oat production within Sweden, Zackari added.

Fazer acquired the Tingsryd factory in March 2022. Established in 1948, it was the pioneering facility worldwide to initiate commercial oat drink production. Aside from manufacturing products for Fazer Aito, the factory also produces oat items for other brands, including private-label products for various retail chains. Currently, the factory employs 180 individuals and exports its products to more than 10 countries.
