Around 30,000 children are expected to run the popular ‘KalvinKnatet’ in the weeks to come. The running event is arranged by Skånemejerier in collaboration with sports clubs in Skåne, Blekinge, Småland and Halland.
Sweden’s largest running race for children is back after a couple of years of pandemic restrictions. This year, Kalvinknatet also celebrates 20 years.
The first race took place in 2002 when about 6,000 children in 12 different places ran and had fun together. This year the race takes place between 7 May-12 June in 21 places in Skåne and the surrounding areas, and around 30,000 children are expected to run.
– For Skånemejerier, it is important to promote good health for children. Milk, which contains 18 of the 22 nutrients that growing children need, in combination with exercise is the key to a good balance and healthy lifestyles. Kalvinknatet is therefore a highlight of the year for us. The race has developed into a real festival where families gather to cheer their children on, Caroline Hagman, Event Manager and responsible for Kalvinknatet at Skånemejerier, says.
