Arlas drickyoghurt och kvarg blir Yalla!

Yalla_bagare2Drickyoghurten, som tidigare hette Yoggi yalla får nytt namn och design men innehållet förändras inte. Sedan tidigare är Arlas drickkvarg utan tillsatt socker. I samband med lanseringen av Yalla! blir all kvarg dessutom laktosfri. Den milda kvargen i bägare kommer att finnas i två smaker: vanilj och blåbär.

Falköping halverar utsläppen

Med en ny pelletseldad energicentral kommer Falköpings mejeri att kunna ersätta 900 kubikmeter olja per år.
Mejeriet kommer att spara pengar.
– Framför allt når vi målet att halvera våra koldioxidutsläpp, säger vd Anders Segerström till SkLT.

Yili Opens Innovation Center Europe

Yili Innovation Center Europe is part of Yili, the largest dairy company in Asia. The Yili Innovation Center Europe recently moved to a new office. The office is located in the new and ultramodern PlusUltra building on the campus of Wageningen University and Research. From the new office the European research and development activities of Yili are coordinated.

During the Connect to Innovate Opening Event, the CEO’s of Yili and Wageningen University and Research share their views on the importance of international cooperation in the dairy sector. The mayor of Wageningen underlines with his presence the importance of the Yili Innovation Center Europe for the region.

The Opening Event was attended by a large Chinese delegation. International representatives from over 40 different universities, knowledge institutes and companies were present.

Dutch Wessanen acquires Abbot Kinney’s

Wessanen and the owners of Abbot Kinney’s have signed and completed the acquisition of Abbot Kinney’s by Wessanen.

Abbot Kinney’s is a young and very dynamic innovation leader in organic almond and coconut based yoghurt alternatives and ice-cream. Founded in 2014, Abbot Kinney’s already built a leading position in its category in Health Food Stores in The Netherlands and has started to build a strong presence in key markets across Europe.

Plant based food is at the heart of the Wessanen strategy and Dairy Alternatives is one of our core categories, present across all key countries in Europe and beyond. Abbot Kinney’s plant based yoghurt alternatives and ice-cream are a welcome addition to Wessanen’s Dairy Alternative category, which until now for the larger part consisted of ambient drinks. Moreover the brand fits very well into Wessanen’s existing portfolio of healthy and sustainable brands.

Jan-Erik Hansson är invald i Arlas styrelse

Jan-Erik_HanssonJan-Erik Hansson, Ljusdal, har utsetts till styrelseledamot i Arla Foods amba. Han ersätter Åke Hantoft (som har gått i pension) som representant från Sverige.

Den 11 september valdes Jan-Erik ”Janne” Hansson, 55 år, in i styrelsen för Arla Foods amba. Fyllnadsvalet gjordes av den svenska regionstyrelsen på ett möte i Stockholm.

Jan-Erik Hansson är en sann entreprenör med en gård som sedan den etablerades för 18 år sedan vuxit snabbt till 1100 kor. Gården ligger i Ljusdal och är välkänd inom lantbrukarkretsar både i Sverige och övriga Europa. Jan-Erik har tidigare varit förtroendevald i både Milko (som Arla fusionerade med 2011) och i Arla (i Hälsinglandkretsen som nu gått in i Södra Norrland).

Research: Dairy food consumption is associated with a lower risk of the metabolic syndrome and its components

Report by the Korean’s Mijin Lee , Hanna Lee  and Jihye Kim. A systematic review and a meta-analysis of observational studies were performed to assess the dose–response relationship between specific types of dairy foods and the risk of the metabolic syndrome (MetS) and its components.

This meta-analysis showed that specific types of dairy food consumption such as milk and yogurt as well as total dairy food consumption were inversely related to risk of the MetS and its components.

Oatly visar minusresultat

Oatly redovisar röda siffror i sen årsredovisning för 2017. 21,8 miljoner kronor minus efter finansnetto, jämfört med plus 1,4 miljoner 2016, skriver ATL. Enligt företaget är resultatet enligt planen.

Finnish Dairy co-operatives Osuuskunta ItäMaito and Osuuskunta Maitosuomi to merge

Valio milk procurement owner co-operatives Osuuskunta ItäMaito and Osuuskunta Maitosuomi are to merge ready to launch on 1 September 2019. The Chairman of the Board of each outgoing co-operative signed the merger agreement on Wednesday, 29 August 2018 in Helsinki. The final decision on the merger will be made by the co-operatives’ delegate meetings this autumn.

The new co-operative will be named Osuuskunta Maitosuomi, domiciled in Lapinlahti. The merger will enable the further development of services for dairy farmer entrepreneurs and greater resource efficiency.

The new co-operative will be Valio’s largest single shareholder with 20 849 shares (42.7% of the total 48 861), leading also for raw milk intake at around 900 million litres per year.

Osuuskunta Maitosuomi has a little over 1100 dairy farmer entrepreneur members and Osuuskunta ItäMaito just under 1600. Osuuskunta Maitosuomi’s raw milk volume intake was around 364 million litres in 2017 and ItäMaito’s some 519 million. Together, the co-operatives supply nearly half of the raw milk volume taken in by Valio. Osuuskunta ItäMaito’s offices are based in Lapinlahti and those of Osuuskunta Maitosuomi in Seinäjoki. Of the 23 dairy farmer members on Valio’s Supervisory Board, four represent Osuuskunta Maitosuomi while ItäMaito has six.

  • Osuuskunta Maitosuomi – 7661 Valio shares, 364 million litres of milk
  • Osuuskunta Pohjolan Maito – 8489 Valio shares, 500 million litres of milk
  • Osuuskunta Tuottajain Maito – 12437 Valio shares, 239 million litres of milk
